Do you have what it takes to be the Metal Detecting World Champion?

For many of us the Dream of becoming a world champion at something is just about Over.
Even Lawn Bowls has been taken over by the younger crowd!

Well that was until the Metal Detecting World Championship was launched in 2019. Giving Creaky Kneed, Crackly backed, sun damaged detectorists another chance of glory on the world stage.

2019 was a huge success and Trevor Emerson was crowned the world champion after surviving the elimination process and always finding the token to progress and ultimately win the title.

It’s very simple and anyone can WIN.

You simply need to find a token in the ropped off area within a set amount of time. Find a Token and your through to the next round.

Sounds easy doesn’t it?

Well its not quite as easy as you think it may be as the 2019 competitors found out. The tokens where not that easy to find, but i won’t let out WHY. It had NOTHING to do with depth and from an organisers point of view was hilarious.

Now don’t think because you got knocked out in the first round that your chance at being the metal detecting world champion is over. It isn’t.

There are 2 ways to get back in the game:

  1. Find a token using ONLY your pinpointer in a repercharge round. Its hands and knees for this one as you try and crawl your way back into the competition. Its gruelling, but very very funny for those watching.
  2. Hit the mark in the target ID challenge. Correctly name the targets that are buried and you can win your back in. This is about knowing your machine and those that know more about the detector they are swinging tend to do well.
LEARN Your machine, On this day that knowledge could make you a world champion! Quite literally!

Now you have plenty of time to get ready got the world championship. Get out there and practice with your machine. Learn the tones and what the machine is telling you.

Knowledge is the key to winning the metal detecting world championship. Well that and some luck doesn’t hurt either.

Many new detectorists progressed through to the final rounds and in the final one of the machines being used was 20 years old.

You don’t need the latest and greatest machines to win, you just need to know what the one you are using is telling you.

I can’t wait for the chapionship in September and I look forward to catching up with the year Oners Clucb and those that are attending for the first time.

There is Tons of Room for camping, Ready set up tents if you need them, Hot showers, Decent toilets and plenty of fun and education.

Do you think you have what it takes to become the Metal Detecting world Champion? Well come and give it a run!

Cheers

Metal Detecting World Championship will have a gold Buyer on site all weekend!

Gold price isn’t too bad at all at the moment, I just bought 10 Ounces so I am familiar with it. LOL

So why not turn your gold into cash at the championship!

Scrap Gold, Nuggets, Coins, anything gold can be appraised and you will have the BEST price put forward by Mick at Grappy’s.

Grappy’s Pays 90% spot price every day! So you know what your in for. Have your Gold tested, weighed and see how many $50 bills you can get for it.

Mick is my preferred Gold buyer and he has traveled all the way from Victoria to be at our event.

DON’T miss this chance to start a relationship with agold buyer you know you can trust, you might not need home this week end but be sure to grab his details because that HUGE Nugget could be just around the corner.

Cheers Grappy’s!

How will the Metal Detecting World Champion be decided?

The Metal Detecting world championship format has been finalised and changed a little from the original Idea to make it more fun and also more inclusive.

In order to be the Metal Detecting World Champion you’ll need to hold a competitors ticket for the event Number one. Once you have that you can enroll on the Friday Before or Saturday of the event.

Entrants will be grouped into heats and released into a paddock to find a token. Those that find a token and bring it back to the desk before the allotted time runs out move through to the next round.

As the day Moves on we will eliminate competitors Until we have 2 Left. These 2 competitors will then go head to head for the title of Metal Detecting World Champion.

Those that don’t locate a token in rounds 1 and 2 can then participate in a reperchage event to gain entry back into the championship. After round 2 We then move into the Finals and find the world champion.

How to get back in if your eliminated:

Until round 3 Starts you have a chance to regain entry into the field for the championship.

After round 1 of the main event is complete, NON token holders can then participate in a Target ID challenge. Where you will need to ID 10 Targets with your metal Detector alone.

The TOP Scores get re-entry into the main event.

After Round 2 of the main Event has been run, a PIN POINTER ONLY Hunt will be held and those that locate a token using ONLY the pin pointer will regain entry into the main event. (This is a timed event as well as limited by number of tokens to be found.)

ALL of the token hunting events involved with the deciding of the world champion are both timed and limited by the number of tokens to be found. Each Round ends when the time is up OR all tokens have been found.

  • Each Participant is allowed to dig only 1 token to progress themselves. Once you have found a token to progress you should leave the field immediately and turn your machine off. Digging more than 1 token or passing a token to another person is not allowed and you may be disqualified.
  • participants in the competitions that relate the deciding of the metal detecting world champion must act alone and without assistance.
  • There is no restriction on detector used,
we will limit to an 11 inch coil on its largest measurement.
  • Marshalls and judges instructions are to be followed and all decisions are final.

Although a serious competition please remember the emphasis is on having Fun. LUCK will play a part in the winner’s crowning and on the day it will be possible for anyone to take home the title.
