Metal Detecting World Championship SOFALA 3-5th October 2025
Event program will be a Growing document and events will be added as sponsors and visitors are confirmed.
The Event program will be released about 6 weeks prior to the event, once we finalise all the activities and time slots.
Here is a basic outline of how the weekend will go.
FRIDAY:
Arrive, set up camp and see who’s around. We will have a small Meeting at about 5pm on the Friday to get everyone ready for the rest of the weekend.
Followed by an Informal meet and greet and general BS session.
SATURDAY:
Heats will be underway by 9am so make sure everything is charged up properly.
There is tons of free dtecting to do in between your heats and there will be various targets planted for you to win a small prize or voucher.
We will also Introduce the $1 and $2 coin events. These will be a seperate entry and are for a bit of fun and maybe profit for the fast.
Get your gold program sorted you’ll need it!
Saturday Night we will have a dinner in the buildings at the showground.
BYO Plate and cutlry to keep the cost down, we will have some disposable plates etc for a HUGE cost if you forget yours.
If we can talk somone into it we will have a trivia night too as that was a lot of fun last event.
SUNDAY:
We are into the finals.
Today we Crown a world Champion and its a lot of fun.
A few Novelty events for those not still in the comp and again a TON of free detecting around the area. All walking distance too.
After Lunch we do the Draws, Give away what we have left in the prize pool and Bask in the glory of the world Champion.
We aim to have you pointed down the road by 3pm at the latest. That puts Sydney people home for dinner Sunday Night.
Sunday Night we have a VERY Informal get together and just wind down after the weekend. This is your chance to throw some stones, pick the event apart and provide some feedback. all f ahich we ignore. LOL
Its just a nice litte sit around, chat and an earlyish night before we clean up Monday and head off to Laanecoorie to go it all again the following weekend.
