Do you have what it takes to be the Metal Detecting World Champion?

For many of us the Dream of becoming a world champion at something is just about Over.
Even Lawn Bowls has been taken over by the younger crowd!

Well that was until the Metal Detecting World Championship was launched in 2019. Giving Creaky Kneed, Crackly backed, sun damaged detectorists another chance of glory on the world stage.

2019 was a huge success and Trevor Emerson was crowned the world champion after surviving the elimination process and always finding the token to progress and ultimately win the title.

It’s very simple and anyone can WIN.

You simply need to find a token in the ropped off area within a set amount of time. Find a Token and your through to the next round.

Sounds easy doesn’t it?

Well its not quite as easy as you think it may be as the 2019 competitors found out. The tokens where not that easy to find, but i won’t let out WHY. It had NOTHING to do with depth and from an organisers point of view was hilarious.

Now don’t think because you got knocked out in the first round that your chance at being the metal detecting world champion is over. It isn’t.

There are 2 ways to get back in the game:

  1. Find a token using ONLY your pinpointer in a repercharge round. Its hands and knees for this one as you try and crawl your way back into the competition. Its gruelling, but very very funny for those watching.
  2. Hit the mark in the target ID challenge. Correctly name the targets that are buried and you can win your back in. This is about knowing your machine and those that know more about the detector they are swinging tend to do well.
LEARN Your machine, On this day that knowledge could make you a world champion! Quite literally!

Now you have plenty of time to get ready got the world championship. Get out there and practice with your machine. Learn the tones and what the machine is telling you.

Knowledge is the key to winning the metal detecting world championship. Well that and some luck doesn’t hurt either.

Many new detectorists progressed through to the final rounds and in the final one of the machines being used was 20 years old.

You don’t need the latest and greatest machines to win, you just need to know what the one you are using is telling you.

I can’t wait for the chapionship in September and I look forward to catching up with the year Oners Clucb and those that are attending for the first time.

There is Tons of Room for camping, Ready set up tents if you need them, Hot showers, Decent toilets and plenty of fun and education.

Do you think you have what it takes to become the Metal Detecting world Champion? Well come and give it a run!

Cheers
